DEFINITION/FUNCTION:
The cell wall is a tough, flexible, sometimes rigid wall that surrounds and separates each cell from another. The cell wall usually serves the purpose of the the plant in which contains the cell. If the plant is very tough, the cell wall will be a tough layer, used for defensive purposes.x
